Australis BARRA kayak, 2.8m

The Australis BARRA has been derived from the very successful BASS kayak from Australis Canoes. The advantage that the BARRA has over the BASS is its tracking ability in open water conditions. Going down river, where manoeuvrability is essential, the BASS is the boat to choose, however, when paddling estuaries, lakes or bays the small keel that has been incorporated in the hull of the BARRA gives it the advantage in straight-line tracking ability. The large cockpit make the BARRA an ideal kayak for fishing or to enable easy entry and exit. At only 18kg it is also easy to man-handle out of the water.
